This garden transformation took place at a traditional property in Banstead, Surrey. To complement the traditional appeal of the home, we relied on a combination of aesthetics by blending timeless elegance with contemporary features.
At the heart of this garden transformation is a bespoke, large pergola. Located on the main terrace of the landscape, this pergola has been precisely crafted to create a striking focal point that is both beautiful and functional.
Offering both shade and a sense of enclosure, this is the perfect spot for alfresco dining or lounging and is the centre of the garden design. The pergola’s design blends traditional craftsmanship with a modern flair to complement the theme of the garden design as a whole.
Structure And Definition
Flanking the pergola, we installed raised L-shaped brick planters. The strategic placement of these planters defines the space, providing a strong architectural element to the garden, and separating the terrace from the lawn without interrupting the design flow.
These planters were constructed from high-quality brick and are ready to be filled with carefully selected plants in the spring to provide a pop of colour and texture to the garden. Plants are chosen to complement both the traditional brickwork of the planters and property, as well as the more modern aspects of the space.

Patio Installation
The patio area has been paved with stunning Indian sandstone, which was chosen due to its timeless appeal. The natural, weathered tones of this patio complement the property and surrounding landscape perfectly, adding some rustic charm to the space.
As the garden is smooth and flat, our design lends itself to a seamless transition between the main terrace and the lawn, creating a cohesive flow between zones. The warm, earthy hues of the sandstone add depth and character to the landscape, which contrasts beautifully with the lush greenery and the crisp lines of the brick planters.
